~~ I really enjoyed this production it’s a great show with lots to do for the whole company.
Stuart Darling had a great sounding orchrestra and kept the pace going along, and the singing was very good. Chrissie Peckham did a great job with the casting and direction and Charlie Hawker had some super choreography. I loved the costumes and the set and lighting was great too. The cast should be congratulated as they put everything they had into making this a great show.
The show is set around Deloris Van Cartier a nightclub singer excellently played by Louise Daly, who witnessed a murder committed by her boyfriend Curtis, Michael Leggett, as the baddie. He wants her out of the way and sends his henchmen TJ (Charlie Daniels), Joey(Andy Steeds), and Pablo (Jo Dey) after her, I loved their number in act 2.
She is taken into police proctection by Eddie (Stewart Plumridge), he hides her in a run down convent where she transforms the choir and saves it from closer I loved it when we had the visit from the pope (Dave Wischhusen).
There are some wonderful characters played by the nuns, the Mother Superior (Lucie Evans) keeps asking God for help as Deloris try’s to fit in with the others. Sister Mary Roberts (Tamsin Fawnke), Sister Mary Patrick (Abbie Guy), Sister Mary Lazarus (Chris Grant) and Sister Mary Theresa(Caroline Cane-Richardson) all played their parts very well and sing beautifully and provide some funny moments. Monsignor O’Hara (Julian Peckham) also plays a good part. The whole company looked and sounded like they were all having fun with the show.
Curtis finds out where she is hiding and there is a funny chase scene towards the end, and Eddie ends up with Deloris. Well done, Thanks for a great night out.
