When you get to a significant of milestone of 60 years it is good to put on a special show. You nailed it! Right from the start the set set the scene and was cleverly used. Deloris Van Cartier (Kirsty Davidson) burst in to our sight and commanded every scene she was in. Mother Superior proved the perfect foil and her mix of bewilderment and sarcasm was well played by Margaret Baer. A suitably geeky Eddie (Graeme Baird) provided the romance and his number ‘I should be that Guy’ was the right mix of pathos and longing. Our baddie was a suitably sinister Curtis (Alan Mathieson) and his sidekicks TJ, Joey and Pablo (Millar Young, Keith Cuthill and Ross Robertson) brought the house down with ‘Lady in a Long Black Dress’.
However this show is about the nuns. Dancing was well choreographed and slick, singing sharp and catchy and comic moments on target.
Well done ladies. Our Mary’s Robert, Patrick, Lazarus, (Emily Baird, Gill Matheson and Caroline Fenwick) obviously were enjoying their parts and completed the picture with style. Last but by no means least was Monsignor O’Hara this rock and roll priest was played by Fergus Bridges - spot on.
Everything about this production worked. Good use of stage and curtain time, lighting and sound effective and sparkly costumes. Enjoyed by all who saw it. Thank you for inviting me to present the awards. Huge congratulations BOAS for the show and happy anniversary.
