The title certainly was something of a conundrum to me because scintillating, as I thought it should be spelled, was written in the publicity as SINtillating Songs. This had me totally confused and wondering what the show was going to be all about but, as soon as I looked in the programme, it all became clear. The revue was split into sections that had the following headings - Lust, Greed, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, Gluttony and Pride all very ‘SINful’ attributes, so, a very subtle title! A wonderful large tree took centre stage that, when applicable, was adorned with appropriate ‘additions’ that depicted the various headings. The splendid opening number ‘Let’s Misbehave‘ introduced the first section ‘Lust‘ which appeared as a neon sign at the side of the stage as did all the subsequent headings. Each of the seven parts contained six or seven musical items delivered by the whole company, small groups or soloists with interspersed poems, several by the brilliant Pam Ayres, whilst others were written in-house. All of the songs were splendidly sung and made all the more enjoyable by the accompanying dance routines which were excellently choreographed and extremely well executed. The poems took the form of little ‘sketches’ and were most amusing, I especially liked ‘George The Dapper Gent’.As I have already indicated all the numerous items were worthy of praise but I must just single out one that for me, was a real  show stopper, and that was ‘Cell Block Tango’ from Chicago. Lisa Scott-Savage, Angela Plant, Heidi Hand, Cat Howourth, Kat Adey and Ellie Mallinson in their very sexy attire, each, in turn, informed us in no uncertain terms, that ‘he had it coming’. It was so impressively and provocatively sung and danced it was absolutely superb. I must congratulate those responsible for the costumes (there was a different set for each section) as they were simply stunning. The Production Team, Barbara Ashmore (Producer), Dave Adey (Musical Director and keyboard player) and Pauline Reader (Choreographer) had worked together to produce an excellent, creatively devised and innovative show and the hard work that they, along with the talented cast, must have put in was very much in evidence. It was a well thought out and extremely well delivered revue that was scintillating (it really did sparkle and shine) and was definitely SINtillating! An evening of pure delight. Congratulations to everyone involved.
