This was an excellent production, full of energy and enthusiasm, but which also presented us with a complete gamut of emotions. Costumes and props were very good and in keeping with the style of production but more care was needed with regard to the use of the curtains as at times it took too long to do and the show lost momentum. Always like to see the movement of small items of scenery done by the cast within the production but would prefer that this did not include major principals. There were some excellent principal performances especially by “Don Lockwood”, Ben James, “Kathy Selden”, Hannah Edwins and “Cosmo Brown”, Gareth Daniel for both singing and dancing. A special mention for “Lina Lamont”, Sue Rourke who sustained throughout an extremely difficult vocal accent! They were backed up by some first class singing and dancing by a very enthusiastic chorus. The lighting and sound effects were generally well managed however attention needs to be paid to the principal mikes which at times were too loud and spoilt some of their songs. This makes dialogue with minor principals without mikes difficult to balance. The orchestral playing was excellent and it was also fantastic to never hear them drown the singers at all. A very well balanced performance throughout!
