Drama Geeks performed "Sing Out This Summer" a concert showcasing songs from Musicals, such as Six, Hamilton and Annie, movies like The Greatest Showman,
The Princess and the Frog, and popular chart hits, from Lewis Capaldi and Little Mix. The piece had something for everyone and was a great blend of soloists, group numbers and ensemble pieces. Drama Geeks faced an unexpected challenge this week with a last-minute change of venue, but it was handled with great professionalism. The group coped admirably, quickly adapting to their new performance space and making the most of what could have been a very disruptive situation. The most remarkable achievement of the evening was that the entire concert had been rehearsed and put together in just four days. The result was a polished and confident performance that demonstrated both the commitment of the cast and the support of the production team. Well done Charlotte. Vocals throughout were excellent, with soloists and ensemble numbers alike performed with clarity, projection, and emotion. Each member of the company took to the stage with confidence, and it was evident that they were enjoying themselves. One of the strengths of this production was the encouragement given to the young performers to contribute to the direction of certain pieces. Macie Sinclair did the arrangement for 'You will be found' and had her first go at directing. This not only created a sense of ownership but also helped develop their skills as young theatre makers. The atmosphere was warm and inclusive, and it was clear that every performer had a chance to shine. The audience responded enthusiastically throughout, showing their appreciation for the efforts of the cast. It was a shame this was not the concert they had originally planned, however from what we saw, there is even more potential within this talented group, and I look forward to seeing them present a fully realised production that allows them to showcase everything they can do. I am looking forward to the next show and well done to everyone involved.
