“A concert with something for everyone.”
Split into two acts, Drama Geeks Sing Out 2026 showcased the group’s passion and love for musical theatre, music and performing, with many standout performances and solos throughout the evening.
Opening the show with a teaser from their upcoming production of Hadestown was a lovely touch and immediately set the tone for a night full of talent and music. Unfortunately, there are far too many performers to mention individually, but every single person who took to the stage did so with enthusiasm, confidence, and a clear love of performing.
Among the younger members, Belle Foster delivered a performance full of sass and determination with Pulled from The Addams Family, while Phoenix Fail impressed with strong acting skills and stunning vocals in Naughty from Matilda. At the other end of the age range, Macie Sinclair’s rendition of What Baking Can Do was simply outstanding and demonstrated both maturity and vocal control.
The first act offered a very good mix of classic and contemporary musical theatre, alongside several entertaining group numbers. One aspect that particularly stood out was the group’s harmonies. It was wonderful to hear such confident harmony lines from such a large and relatively young ensemble. Clearly a great deal of hard work had gone into achieving this, and it was greatly appreciated.
Act Two opened with a Little Mermaid medley performed by the parents of the group members. Having seen their full performance back in October, it was hugely entertaining to see it again, and there were definitely some striking character resemblances on stage. Well done to this brave group of parents – perhaps a Drama Geeks senior group could be on the horizon?
The second act continued with a mix of pop and contemporary songs, again featuring some memorable solo performances. Mia Fairley gave a beautifully delivered rendition of Creep, while Eva Craig tackled Seventeen Going Under with confidence and bravery – complete with a certain football shirt!
It was wonderful to see such young talent coming through the group. The future certainly looks bright, and there are undoubtedly several performers to keep an eye on as they continue to develop their skills under the guidance of their dedicated and trusted tutors.
Although the concert was packed full of content, and measures such as medleys and shortened songs had clearly been put in place to help the pacing, the overall running time still felt quite long. It may be worth considering grouping songs together by theme, era, or age group, allowing numbers to flow directly into one another with a group bow at the end of each section. This could help maintain energy and improve the overall flow of the programme. Although the performances were engaging and well-executed, some of the song content felt slightly inappropriate for certain performers. This could provide a valuable opportunity in lessons to explore song suitability and discuss how subject matter aligns with audience expectations and age appropriateness.
That said, the touches of costume and props added to the visual appeal, and the dance routines were enjoyable and entertaining throughout.
All in all, we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I am already looking forward to seeing what magic Charlotte, Georgina and the team brew up for Shrek and Hadestown in the near future.
Congratulations to everyone involved — cast, crew, and creatives — for delivering such a fun and talented packed concert.
