Well, this is the first panto that I have visited this year. I was looking forward to seeing one that I had not seen before and Sinbad certainly lived up to all my expectations. The story was told by the Old Man of the Sea played by Barrie Mason and he got all the audience participating right from the start, well done.

The chorus brought the show to life in the opening with their rendition of `Brand New Day` and they all looked really slick when they performed `In the Navy`. Congratulations to Kathy Pinon for choreographing such a large chorus. Their white and navy trimmed costumes looked really smart.

The show’s fast pace and comedy roles were taken on by Joseph Clarke as Mrs. Sinbad and George Richardson as Sillibillibad his son. They were brilliant. Sinbad played by Sam Wareing portrayed him well as he battled his way through many things that the evil Cassim the Corsair  played by Derek Longstaff had put in his way while he was searching for the treasure so that he could win the hand of Princess Haidee, well played by Roisin McCann.

Paddy Holman gave a good performance as the Calipha of Bagbad and Louise Topping certainly looked the part of the Queen of the Diamond Valley with her rendition of `Diamonds are Forever`. There was a lovely cheeky performance  by Roseanna Sharples, portraying Mickey the Monkey. Special mention must go to the Effects Team for producing an Island that turned out to be a Whale, an Elephant with an extremely long trunk and the Roc the huge bird which Sinbad used to escape. The lighting effects played on the Queen of the Diamonds when her heart melted were rather special also. Well done everybody for a good show.
