Shrek the musical

It was a very proud Area 10 rep that watched Nova’s production of ‘Shrek the Musical’ tonight. The show sparkled from start to finish, all the characters were spot on, singing was excellent and dancing slick and coordinated. Great work production team!

Special mention must go to the 4 main characters - Superb Shrek (Blair Ruxton), Fabulous Fiona (Shannon McGlynn), Delightful Donkey (Eilidh Ryan Robertson) and Fantastic Farquaad (Darren Gill). Star performances from them all. The smaller parts, no less important, were all performed with class. To many to mention individually but all worthy of the standing ovation the company received.

They were superbly supported by the ensemble. The fairytale characters danced their way into the hearts of those watching and their ‘Freak Flag’ number had the audience enthusiastically joining in. The Duloc Dancers moved as a well-rehearsed whole, the Dragon sequence was suitably atmospheric with the knights, skeletons and backing singers doing a great job and the guards marched with style and timing.

Set, sound and lighting were of an excellent standard and a well done to all the hard working back stage workers. Makeup and costumes were WOW!

My thanks for the lovely welcome and hospitality I received.  Tonight proved to me that Nova is moving forward and bringing musical theatre back to the people of Forfar and District. Keep up the good work, onwards and upwards. I am already looking forward to Panto!
