This Society is the only group in my District to produce a "songs from the shows". As Jane and Mabel wrote in the programme " it gets harder and harder to come up with new songs, styles and staging". I have always admired Societies for "tackling" this type of production - it must be more difficult than a "book" show.
The content was excellent - a good mixture of popular show songs, some not so popular and others probably unknown. It was great to listen to good harmony singing from duets, quartets and the ensemble, and to watch very effective but simple movement. This type of production gives many of the company a chance to shine, and they certainly did. Congratulations to Gavin and the Band for their sympathetic accompaniment. The Montgomery's updated lighting gave some good effects. Costumes (particularly the shades of blue worn by the girls) were excellent.
Keep up the good work and I look forward to the South Yorkshire premiere of "9 to 5" in 2016.
