This mod musical set in London in the swinging 60’s took us on a journey through the decade portraying the lives of five ‘colour girls’ who were all dedicated followers of ‘Shout!’, the musical magazine. In facing various situations in their lives, the women each sought advice from the columnist, which provided the opportunity to integrate some swinging numbers of the time into the story. With a relatively small cast and quite a few making their stage début, all appeared dressed in the style of the 1960’s including hair styles and white Vinyl boots. In travelling from America to get sight of Paul McCartney, Lauren Ophaug played the Yellow Girl. Laura Black was cast as the Orange Girl who suspected her husband was cheating on her and provided a great rendition of ‘You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me’. Claiming the perfect life, Rebecca Weir was the Blue Girl with Laura Goodwin as the Red Girl who was waiting for her perfect man to come along and sang ‘To Sir With Love’ well. Of all the girls Nicola Frew played the Green Girl who was the most liberated and delivered many innuendos. Musical numbers were presented in the style of the decade and the ‘Winds of Change' medley was delivered with great enthusiasm which contrasted with ‘Those Were The Days’ as the Girls reflected on the decade past with ‘Shout’ bringing the audience to their feet. The band was tight and set the pace for what was an enjoyable show.
