This show was billed as’ the Mod Musical’, a swinging sixties sensation, and that is exactly what it turned out to be!!. Anyone of my vintage would know every word of every song,  and  the show  spanned the decade, through the eyes of  five’ SHOUT’, girls magazine fans. They believed all the advice given by magazine agony aunt, Gwendolyn Holmes, who was played as a voice over by Radio Cumbria presenter, Val Armstrong, heard but never seen.

The five ladies were all very strong characters, Blue Girl, played by Zoe McSorley, Green Girl, by Helene Phillips, Orange Girl, by Katie Dalzell, Red Girl by Louise Dixon, and the most convincing for me Louise Neale as the Yellow Girl.

There were around thirty well known sixties songs, performed by the principal ladies, as solos or duets and ensembles.  They were more than ably backed by a team of male and female backing singers who shoop shooped and dooby dooed their way through, these sixties classic hits, as the girls soliloquied their experiences. It was all very clever.

A great deal of credit must go to Clark Wilkinson, for having the vision to take on the show. Scenery was very minimal, and the lighting and sound were fine. Clark also led the musical trio, who provided the musical backing.

Another very enjoyable night at the Wave in Maryport, and I look forward to the Society's next production of ‘Gipsy’, in spring 2013.
