Having been asked to do a review for this production I was a little concerned what I would encounter, as I had no idea how it went but nothing could have prepared me for Dr Seuss and his zany world of wacky characters. So on entering the hall I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the orchestra had got into the look of the show by wearing red and white striped scarves which followed the theme of Seuss’s hat. (Which I was aware of!!)
The setting was fairly simple but had all that was necessary and would work well on this small stage. Lighting was good; as was the sound and the costume but as usual, the musicians drowned the cast at times. Such a shame as they played with such great gleeful gusto as did the cast. A little more attention to the makeup could have added more depth to the characters.
I would be very hard put out to try to name any particular person who took part in this production as it was so lively the whole time. The one name I must mention though is the Director, Emily Starr, who must have had her hands full to achieve such a frenetic show. And of course, The Cat, Maureen Hutter, who held the whole show together from the very beginning until the last sighting on stage.
The fun onstage definitely communicated to the audience. Thank you for letting me share in your Fun.
