BILSTON YOUTH COMPANY

This was the show for anyone who enjoyed the Dr Seuss stories. All the characters were there lovingly created and with music to enjoy.

Bilston Youth Company were certainly determined that everyone should have a good time and The Cat (Jacob Kohli) was in charge. Also joining him was Jo Jo (William Tyne) Mayzie (Ella Morgan) Gertrude, the bird with only a one feathered tail (Jolie Uppal). Along the way on their adventures they meet Jo Jo’s parents Mr & Mrs Mayor, the Bird Girls, the Wickershams, the Sour Kangaroo and the Baby, General Schmitz (Jack Pearson), Horton the Elephant (Joe Riley),  and his quest to find a clover, and The Grinch (Ben Evans) and I feel sure all the members of the Company were filling the stage with music, dance and laughter.

The story begins with a small boy (Jo Jo) finding a hat and wondering who owns it. Of course it belongs to the Cat and he encourages Jo Jo to think up the Jungle of Nool. This is the start of many adventures for Jo Jo. He joins the Military School run by the General, disrupts the class at school, takes a bath and floods the bathroom, helps his friend Horton to assist Mayzie by sitting on her egg while she goes off to have a good time.

A complicated story with many characters it was easy to sit back and enjoy all that was happening and stage and not worry too much about the ins and outs of the plot. So many adventures and all scenes performed to a high standard. Excellent imaginative costumes, a well controlled band, lovely music and everyone having a night of sheer entertainment from a very talented Youth Company.

The future of the main society is assured with the up and coming talented performing show to such a high standard.
