Off we go for a colourful, happy night out to the Jungle of NOOL. We'll meet a Magical Cat, with a Hat, a talking Elephant, and a living speck of dust containing the whole nation oh Hoo's. Hey wait a minute what are we talking about? Sorry, I am having a great vist to meet up with the Boys and Girls of LYAMC. It was a very happy night for both audience and cast.
The magical Cat in the Hat was played by (James Rennie). He lead us through the crazy story in a magical land helping Jo Jo (Corin Wake) along on his quest to save all his friends the Hoo's. His only contact is via an Elephant played by (Cameron Kilgore) who sang the part beautifully. His laid back approach to the character helped the audience really feel his concern at hearing the plea's of the Hoo's when nobody else could hear them. With marvellous performances from Isis Hainsworth as (Maysie) Maya Finlayson as (Gertrude McFuzz) and all the menbers of the company large and small joined in the trip carrying the members of the audience with them. James McCutcheon as MD led a well rehearsed orchestra he had obviously worked hard wit the company in bringing the music of Stephen Flaherty and the lyrics of Lynn Ahrews and Eric Idle to life.Withn very colourful costumes and a multi level set the look and presentation of the whole production was of a very high standard. I must give praise to the whole company when they mamnaged to cope with a part power cut blacking out the Pit and killing the PA System 10 minutes before the end of the show but they rallied once the power had been restored and finished the performance. Congratulations to one and all for a fabulous evening.
