Seussical Jr is a musical based on the works of Dr Seuss.  It features wacky characters and quirky musical numbers.  Suzanne Scale Performing Arts chose this production as their latest offering at Rhiwbina Memorial Hall and it was lovely to be invited along.

The set was basic but colourful and allowed the performers room to use the whole stage.

The story follows Horton the elephant in their quest to protect the Whos of Whoville.  Horton was played by Caoimhe Lewis and she delivered an excellent performance.  She had a lovely character and a great singing voice in the musical numbers; well done.

Mayzie was played by Lara Norman who was excellent.  She moved well and sang nicely, giving a lovely performance throughout.

Tanwen Jones played Gertrude.  I really enjoyed her performance.  It was one of maturity with a lovely, well-rounded character.  She sang really well in the musical numbers.  Well done Tanwen!

Nia O’Halloran and Lena Connors were full of energy as the sour kangaroo and the baby kangaroo.  They were clearly having lots of fun, which was great to see.

The Cat in the Hat was shared between Celyn Windsor and Ava Scale.  They added a touch of mischief throughout which was exactly what you’d expect from this character.  A great pairing; well done!

Dotty Pooler gave a lovely performance as Jojo.  She had a fantastic singing voice and a great character.

Other named characters all did a good job in adding something to this production and a special shout out must go to the very sassy bird girls, Esme Pike, Maisie Farnham, Persephone Constantinou and Ffion Bestwick who gave it 100% whenever they were on stage.

This was a musical full of colour and fun.  Thank you for a lovely evening of entertainment!
