This was a well-chosen show for such a lively youth group it gave a huge scope for leaders to give almost everyone either a part or something to do which culminated in well performed show. The choreography was well executed by competent dancers always together and one thing I noticed no one trying to outshine anyone else just keeping to the dance at hand and it made such a difference to watch well done. The set was very innovative colourful as was the make-up and looked easy on the eye simple but very effective, less is more, when space is at a premium it’s important to use every idea to bring the set together and you certainly achieved that. The sound and lighting was more than ample and enhanced the whole show. The orchestration brought the show together and the cast were well rehearsed never needing to glance sideways for that all important comfort of the MD, baton in hand an excellent job all round well done.

The principals were well chosen with some good acting and singing, Horton the Elephant (Alex Williams) played out this role very well it’s amazing how street cred disappears when you’re suited in a grey Elephant suit with big ears shame you had to keep the modern hair do, good job, need some help with your upper voice range. Gertrude Mcfuzz (Caitlin Sherwood) an extraordinary strong performance showing all the attributes of a future star an excellent role and performed very well. The Wickersham Brothers (Jonny Houghton, Nathan Flaherty, Jordan Parker) Now you were the coolest dudes I’ve seen for a long time all individual characters but so funny in the roles well done. The Cat in the Hat (Emily Hokins) you were sensational in this role faultless singing dialogue and acting a fabulous performance holding the whole show together congratulations, Jojo (Ben Wallace) a beautiful voice carrying out this role with true professionalism well done. General Genghis Kahan Schmitz (Josh Freestone) I have never laughed so much, ill-fitting suit marching on the wrong feet leading an army, you were going to do this part come what may and you did a great job the comedy you achieved was incredible well done young man. I have to mention the Grinch (Simon Westwood) a strong presence on stage with an unusual voice needs nurturing because it would be shame not to hear it again need to up your confidence levels but when your noticed it’s for a reason well done. Overall a well performed show the ensemble supported all the appropriate scenes with vigour congratulations.

My sincere thanks for the hospitality shown to us on our visit.
