This was certainly a fun evening of rhyme, song, dance, and fabulous colour with this musical show of Dr Seuss books that was certainly enjoyed by the audience throughout the whole evening.

Every musical number was delivered with superb volume by the full cast on a brightly painted set which gave a colourful and energetic feel throughout.

The costumes were stunningly eye-catching - so colourful and with subtle animalistic designs.

The "Young boy"/"JoJo" (Malachy Bray) had a lovely voice and such clear diction with a warm character, the "Cat in the hat" (Zac Brady) in his superb costume and make up gave a very dramatic performance as the eccentric all-knowing narrator to the piece, and "Horton the elephant" (Gabriel Jones) was the sweet, empathetic, put-on character with a beautiful mellow tone and depth of feeling to his singing.

These three were brilliantly supported by the other principals - the very respectful Mayor and Mrs Mayor, (Ted Killan and Helen Smith), the sassy Mayzie La Bird (Chloe Judge), the desperate Gertrude McFuzz (Catherine Gregory), the very jazzy voice of Sour Kangaroo (Loretta Marklew) and Schmitz (Julian Freeman) all had brilliant characterisations, and the very colourful dancing birds (Faith Martin, Isabella Scott-Grice, Leona McLoughlin) provided the most amazing harmonies too which gave a depth of cast that this company should be most proud of.

The full cast of principals and chorus gave energy to their performances, great enthusiasm and smiles, and maintained their many varied characters through-out.

There were songs with excellent harmonies; there were solos with beautiful singing but best of all there were songs with excellent diction from everyone, so you could hear the storyline with such clarity.

The set design and construction was so clever - the lighting added brilliant effects with gorgeous colours, which set the whole production alight!

The band, under the direction of Mike Gilroy played brilliantly – never outplaying the performers.  Everyone could be heard at all times, both through song and lib.  The balance on sound was perfect – congratulations John Trenouth!

Massive congratulations to Mark Allan (Director), Damien Poole (Choreographer) and Mike Gilroy (Musical Director) on such an enjoyable production – I think the whole audience will have sat for a couple of hours with a smile from ear to ear on their faces, being transported into this  magical world!
