Congratulations to Andrea on creating a very acceptable adaptation of Jane Austen`s novel. This production stayed faithful to the novel with a cast that slipped effortlessly into the period, and gave impressive performances throughout. Amy Law and Claire Stewart as the Dashwood sisters were superb in character and delivery of lines. Marjorie Howarth was perfect as the inquisitive Aunt Jennings, as was Jenny Cooper as the secret fiancée, Lucy Steele. Simon Paget played Willoughby with just the right edge, and Rob Hodkinson gave the role of Edward Ferrers just the right degree of timidity. Mark Pardner as Colonel Brandon completed a very competent line up with a fine study of a man with a troubled past and hopeful of a happy future.
The simple set and costumes were perfect for the period, and the set changes, of which there were many, were quick and efficient, ensuring that the play moved along at a good pace.
