On entering the auditorium playgoers were greeted with a stage showing a good set with plenty of visible props including a Christmas Tree and Christmas stockings hung around the fireplace.

Ida the maid  (Lorraine Samantha Allen) entered, picked up a magazine and sat contendedly reading. From her attitude we knew we were going to be entertained.  When Miss Skillon (Liz Webster) entered   the play began and almost immediately the laughs started. She had such expressions and disdain whenever referring to the ex-actress Vicar's wife Penelope (Suzy Donnelly) and adoration when talking of the Reverend Toop (David Weller).

Further complications came with the arrival of an old boy friend of Penelope's Lance Corporal Winton (Rod Bissett) and her uncle the Bishop of Lax (Andy Jones) and the laughs never stopped coming. Loads of confusion and mistaken identities.

The action was further supported by An Intruder (Les Wilkes) another Reverend (Rob Onions) and a Sergeant (Christopher Waters). You needed your eyes everywhere on the stage because the action was non-stop. Including several chases through the auditorium. Great stamina and fitness needed for this fast pace chase.

An excellent cast, always snatching the lines from each other and with excellent timing - not always easy in amateur theatre to find actors with  a good sense of comic timing. Author Phillip King would have been very proud of the Grange Production of his play

It was a perfect way to start a New Year and on leaving discovering that snow had fallen the laughs and fun of the evening certainly entertained all the way home
