What a good way to spend a wet Saturday evening being transported back to Dickensian London in the iconic surroundings of Morecambe's Winter Gardens Theatre. The society and their Director are to be congratulated on a colourful, busy production. The scenery was excellent and beautifully lit. The sound effects were very good and contributed hugely to the success of the show.

The leading part of Scrooge, on which this show stands or falls, was in the capable hands of Andy Whittle. He portrayed this complex character with commendable stage presence and fine singing. He was ably supported by an outstanding Jacob Marley played by Ray Jenkinson and three well cast ghosts played by Isobel El Amir, Shay Kennedy and Meril Bull. The Cratchit Family, led by their father Bob, played by Steve Johnson, provided a very good contrast between their poverty and their determination to have as good a Christmas as they could.

Other notable parts were Scrooge's Nephew and Young Ebeneezer, both played by Jason Whittle and an outstanding performance came from Elliot Johnson as Tom Jenkins. The Chorus and Dancers contributed to the overall enjoyment of the audience.

The music was in the capable hands of Joanna Jeffries who handled her delightful ensemble with her usual professionalism.

Vanessa Whittle is to be congratulated for taking on what must have been a monumental task directing such a large cast on her debut as director and Choreographer.
