When I visited a rehearsal I was impressed by the energy and commitment in the room and this was manifested 100% in tonight’s performance. Fast paced energy from start to finish with an outstanding performance by the leading man Gavin Burton (Dewey Finn). He was admirably supported by an excellent Natalie Morris (Rosalie Mullins), a sharp and sassy Kayleigh Winton as Patty and her suitably downtrodden boyfriend Ned Schneebly played by Gary Ducat. Well done to all and the supporting adult cast and adult chorus.
However, and I’m sure the adult company will agree with me, that the junior members deserve a special mention. In no particular order Amber, Ace, Ella, Charlie, Rory, Boyana and Dexter shone in their respective roles, with spot on characterisation and strong vocals. They in turn were supported by Ana, Ella, Cam, Elliot, Artemis and Millie again showing their understanding of their character and how to present themselves. The junior chorus sparkled with enjoyment, performing the choreography with slick efficiency and singing their hearts out. They had the audience in the palm of their hands!
The whole performance was well planned and the dancing and singing were a stand out feature. In all a most effective and enjoyable experience. Well done to the production team. A shout out to the hard working stage crew and helpers for managing a minimalistic set (very suitable for the stage space) and quick changes. I loved the school uniforms!
Thank you Carnoustie for your hospitality and good luck with your next production in March. Enjoy your last 2 shows.
