A taxi driver`s double life with two wives,  that requires explicit juggling of time with each, Mary in Wimbledon and Barbara in Streatham, eventually ends in farce,  a typical 1960`s Ray Cooney offering.

Impressive as the husband John Smith, Ian Humphries  handled the massively wordy role with some ease, ably supported by Jo Russell as the confused Barbara, and Rachel Buxton as the frantic Mary.  Both  turning  in excellent performances.  Outstanding as the quick thinking, on the spot friend Stanley, was Richard Kirkland, a real live wire who kept the tempo of the piece moving nicely.  Istvan  Osvath`s over the top performance as Bobby the gloriously gay neighbour from upstairs had the partisan audience in stitches with his antics.

Good support from Sue Cope as the Detective Sergeant Troughton,  and Paul Makinson, a sardonic cameo as Detective Sergeant Porterhouse.  A few slip-ups,  like answering the phone before it rang,  only added to the enjoyment of the evening.  Performed on a well-constructed set, this was a very good production.
