Rumplestiltskin was certainly something different for this Panto Season and all credit to writer Stephanie Huxley. There was not quite so much interaction with the audience as normally happens in a production of this kind but it was great fun and was a real treat visually with lovely costumes and ideal scenery and all the characters were there. Carol Noble was the quirky Fairy and it was good to see Douglas Dalziel back as Dame (Betty Bloomer). He is such a good Dame and I was sorry that he didn't appear more often. The romantic interest were Nick Ransom and Emily Neen playing Eric and Cordelia (a very good pairing) and great fun was had with Tom and Dick (Hana Flanagan and Amy Baker) and May and Hem (Romilly Huxley and Dulcea Mayhew). Rumplestiltskin himself was played to great effect by Sean Langford - a very good characterisation. All the other parts were well played and the lead vocalists, Michelle Moon and Emma Pierssene and the ensemble completed the line up and gave a great deal of support to the piece as did Damien Castle on piano and guitar and Steve Huxley on percussion. The effects were good, especially turning the straw into gold. Well done to all involved, whether on stage or working in the background.
