This very funny farce centres around eight guests who turn up at the house of a prominent government official only to find hjm confused in his bedroom after shooting himself through his ear
First to arrive are Ken and Chris who find Charley their host injured, so try to keep the accident from the other guests. As they all have their own reasons for keeping the truth from coming out, the visitors cause so much confusion trying to keep the secret from each other. Ken and Chris played by Howard Clare and Carmela Horne worked well with each other. Chris who tried so hard to keep a secret helped by the permanent glass in hand of different drinks. It must be hard to play someone getting more drunk by the minute. Well done .I enjoyed the scene when Howard appears after a second gunshot, temporarily deaf, mishearing everything. Very funny.
The second couple to arrive are Leonard and Claire Cummings, having just been involved in an accident with their new car. They were well played by Scott Alker and Debbie Eustace. Other guests include Cookie (Margaret Parkinson) a TV cook, who constantly complains of her painful back , her husband Bernard, a therapist played by Mark Bradley , Cassie and Glenn Cooper, he a parliamentary candidate, she, his very young wife- played by Gilly Parkinson and Bert Halliday.
All have secrets and rumours they want to be kept secret, so it is no surprise when the police arrive Tales go from bad to worse. Colin O`Brien and Kim Toth (Officers Conkin and Carter) need to figure out what has happened. It was left to the magnificent Leonard Cummings who draws the short straw, pretends to be Charley and concocts a fantastic explanation which in the end has more truth than anyone could imagine. Brilliant.
A great evening`s entertainment and great set. Many thanks.
