This was a new play written by Bobby Ball and as it was the first production of the piece I was intrigued to see it. I came away having had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. It was a simple but very amusing play and judging by the capacity audience’s reaction was enjoyed by all. We all knew what to expect from Bobby Ball and Tommy Cannon and we were not disappointed. Members of the supporting cast from Fylde Coast Players were certainly not overawed or overshadowed by the professionals. Rosie Withers, Director has brought out the best from this very talented cast, ensuring that the pace never flagged. All contributed to the overall success of the evening. Paul Lomax and Vera Cummins as Johnny and Doreen were outstanding as the gay compere and the alcoholic wife. Paul, never out of character, even when Bobby Ball was adlibbing. Vera gave a delightful performance, very amusing as the numerous vodkas took effect. All on stage seemed to be enjoying the fact that they were part of a brand new production and will no doubt certainly remember this special occasion. The set was well designed and constructed and the sound and lighting crew combined to help make the show the success it undoubtedly was. My wife and I had a lovely visit with you and we look forward to your next offering.
