Brownhills MTC seem to have taken concerts to a new level! . Rock n Roll to Broadway took us from modern day all the way back to the 1950’s with a wonderful varied selection of songs from each decade.

Songs performed included songs from new films and musicals such as Matilda and Frozen to a selection of classics from the 50’ and 60’s.

Also impressive was the array of talent on show from both the younger and the more senior members of the company all performing together to create a quite magical atmosphere.

It would be hard to mention each and every performer in this review with over 40 songs performed but it was evident that every single performer gave their utmost to ensure that this was a high quality production.

Most memorable performances came from young Emily Hardy with an endearing performance of “Naughty” from Matilda. The very impressive Alison Room and Jamie Norgrove with “By the Sea” and “A little Priest” from Sweeny Todd, Fantastic!, and from company stalwarts’ Pete Smith and Dave Oakley singing “I wanna be like you” from Jungle Book.

From the 60’s decade, Emma Annis/Ensemble singing “Son of a Preacher Man” and Alison Room with the Cilla Black favourite “You’re my World”

From the 70’s decade Helen Norgrove and Kathryn James’s duet, Abba’s “Chiquitita” was quite stunning as was Helen singing “Wuthering Heights”. The talents of Nick Allen certainly shone throughout the production but his rendition of the Stevie Wonder Classic “Sir Duke” was really top drawer.

From the 50’s section, the close harmony singing of Louise Hewitt, Joasha Jones, Kathryn James and Helen Norgrove singing “Mr Sandman” was awesome.

But the main highlight of the evening for me came from the up and coming Charlotte Fletcher

who was simply stunning singing a song from one of Disney’s most popular films ever, “Let it Go” from Frozen. To say she did the song justice would be an injustice to Charlotte and it was an honour to listen to such an incredible performance. I have no doubt that this young lady is destined for much bigger things and I will be first in line for free tickets to her premier in the West End!!

Of course none of this would have been possible without the impressive band under the fine leadership of Ian Room, the excellent Choreography from both Michele Windsor and Charlotte Fletcher and of course the dedicated stage and Front of House teams.

Your President and Chairman must be bursting with Pride. Well done to you all!
