This was S.T.A.R.S annual pantomime using members of Starburst, their youth section, and what talented young people they are with good singing voices, athletic dancing and good delivery of all their dialogue. The staging and settings of the vaious scenes were colourful and imaginative with good use of the stage. The costumes (Clare Burnside and Margaret Townsley) were a delight to the eye with Villagers, Ships Crew , Monkeys, Cannibal Natives for the youngsters together with those for the Dame (Chris Binns), the Baddie (Gary Darbey), Robinson Crusoe (Sarah Gate), Polly ( Isabelle Poveda) and the rest of the cast. But the piece de resistance was Beckie the Parrot played with great confidence and panache by young Leo Mercer. The production was tight, well controlled and flowing with plentry of comedy for the large contingent of children in the audience who seemed to really enjoy themselves. So did I.
