This very funny script was delivered in true pantomime style by a very enthusiastic cast. They were well led by Louise Hewitt in the role of Crusoe and she teamed up perfectly with Francesca Breeze (Juanita). Their singing was a delight. The humour was in the very capable hands of Jonathan Edwards (Nutty Nick) and Brett Dewsbury (Skull-Duggery) who formed a very good duo with Linda Askew (Cross Bones) There has to be a villain in pantomime and this one had a bonus of two characters to boo. There was Steve Thornhill (Cut-Throat) and Dave Beere (Davy-Jones) and it didn’t take either of them long to get the audience involved. They were kept in check by Julie Hunter (Coral) and her diction was excellent. Brian Washington gave a first class performance as Captain Seasalt. I also liked the performance of Daniel Roberts as Friday. Jamie Jones has gone down the route of glamorous dame and his costumes were certainly spectacular and applauded by the audience every time he appeared in a different one. There was strong support from Beth Flint (Hocus Pocus), Jane Lake (Poll) and Vicky Evans (Mumbo Jumbo).
There was some confident singing from the chorus who were also involved in some slick dance routines. The costumes were stunning and with support from a good technical team and piano and drums it made a very pleasant evening’s entertainment. Well done to everyone involved!
