It is always refreshing to see something new, I had not seen this Peter Denyer pantomime before and it did not disappoint, I thought it was great. Audience participation from the start added tremendously to a thoroughly enjoyable evening’s entertainment, some lovely performances and generally everybody enjoying themselves.

There was a good Sheriff of Nottingham in the form of Chris Metcalf, he really was a villain, how the audience loved to boo him every time he came onto stage. Robin Hood and Maid Marion ‘Lucy Stewart and Caitlin Bibby’, were well matched and added the romance, both these young ladies did full justice to their roles, both sang well and had a natural feel for the stage, I thought that the feisty Maid Marion’s singing of ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ was beautiful, well done. Nurse Nora played by Joe Clark gave the show pace, and he knows how to work the audience, he had us all in the palm of his hand. Another talented performance was given by Colin Taylor as Herman the Henchman, what a laugh, but he excelled as Buttercup in his pantaloons and high heels slipping all over the stage, the children in the audience and all the young at heart were bowled over by his antics. All the cast gave great support, Ruth Moreland, Sam Wareing, Carla Addison, Barrie Mason, did so well in their roles all adding to the performance. Very well done to the babes Janet and John who confidently played their parts on the Friday night that I came along, I also heard just how good the other Janet and John  played the babes, very well done the both of you.

The chorus of villagers, soldiers and children all worked hard. What a smashing pantomime this was, with well chosen music, colourful costumes and some very nice choreography all contributed to a very entertaining evening. I must congratulate the scenic design and painting crew who did an amazing job, the set was excellent, visually bright and imaginative.

The whole production was very much enjoyed by me and the audience. Thank you.
