The one thing that is always impressive when attending SLTC’s pantomimes are the impressive sets and this year was no exception. The sets were so colourful and uplifting. Congratulations to Kevin Hornsey for the set décor design and painting and also to the building team.
The dancers and members of the Rising stars added some great atmosphere to the scenes. There were some very good characters in Robin Hood (Becky Spiegl-Watson) and Maid Marion (Jess Ashton) complementing each other well and giving us a very good duet. The Sheriff of Nottingham (Matt Smith) gave us a cunning, evil and confident villain, ably assisted by Bodgit (Adam Fisher) and Scarper (Ross Cryer). Friar Tuck (John McKenzie) gave a great performance full of witticisms and had the audience both groaning and laughing in equal measure. The tree, Holly (Amber Marwood) was the highlight of the evening for me. The costume was perfect and her characterisation was excellent. Everyone played their parts extremely well and contributed to an enjoyable evening. The costumes looked good and the fight scene was orchestrated very well indeed. If I had any criticism at all it was that it was a little wordy and went over the heads of the children. That being said it was a very entertaining evening and a good night was had by all.
Well done LTC and thanks for the invitation.
