This is pantomime at it’s most traditional: Heros and Heroines, a Wicked Witch,, An outrageous Dame, a wicked Sheriff complete with two silly henchmen; Fairies, Ghosts and brief appearance of a pantomime horse. Kids in the varied shapes of Buds, Petals, Posies Blossoms and Blooms to provide us with the Dancing
Production and Direction were in the more than capable hands of Julie Delaney and Graham Leigh supported by Choreographer Rebecca Gardner who made the most of the 54(?) youngsters under her leadership…
Sheriff (Phil Gilroy) aided and abetted by Swiggit and Scoffit, (Jed Flowerday and Graham Leigh) did their best to outdo Robin Hood and Maid Marian (Emily Beresford and Jessica Leigh) but met their match especially when Nurse Nitty Nora (Terry Davies) joined the fray. Nathan Benjamin as Nitty Noras helper Norman suffered manfully at her hands. Leanne Burgess has progressed from playing leading ladies to witches and she is very good at it. It’s much more fun being a villain. Fairy (Nicola Jophnstone) added a pleasing performance and Megan Fraser gave good support as Will Scarlet.
Two nine year olds Lara Norman (IHarry) and Hannah Foulis Wills(IHolly)Showed great maturity in their roles as the babes. No problem hearing these two and in complete control in all their scenes. Very well done.
Norman Scott has been their Musical Director as long as I can remember but with someone this good why change. Super Norman as always.
As usual the cast was beautifully dressed thanks to a dedicated team and the sets were complimentary with good lighting and handled well, by the stage crew under the watchful eye of Stage Manager Phil Rochford. Next Year is number 100 for this excellent society. Be sure that I’ll be there. Budge
