We always look forward to Stowmarket’s pantomimes so we were very pleased to be invited again.
This time there was no orchestra pit which made a big extension to the stage but their resident pianist was still there and was inconspicuous stage right.
Stowmarket has always excelled with their sets, always dressing the limited space they have at the Regal. This time there was a bigger chorus so at times it did look a little tight for room. However this did not deter from the enjoyment.
It was good to see Peter Hawkes as the zany dame Pepper Piper dressed to kill and wigged to the nines. Rachel Warner made a handsome Robin Hood and worked well with Lauren Bunce as Maid Marion. Nigel Lungley made a welcome comeback as Friar Tuck, ably abetted by his merry men.
The chorus had some good company numbers and despite the space worked extremely well with their routines, and a big hurrah for the children, two delightful babes, and chaps in tabards and pretty girls who almost stole the show.
Shame not to mention everyone, but they added to the enjoyment of another successful panto. Well done SODS.
