Rainhill Musical Theatre Company’s latest production was a very entertaining revue called "Real to Reel "directed by the talented Samantha Moores. The audience were treated to an eclectic interesting mix of 47 songs with some dancing and movement from 46 different musicals which have been performed  on stage over the last eighty years and have also been made into popular films for the silver screen, these included such iconic musicals as Jersey Boys, Top Hat, Carousel, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, The King and I, Billy Elliot, The Wizard of Oz, Dreamgirls, Carousel, Bodyguard, Into the Woods and Les Miserable to name but a few, I was also happy to see that the songs performed were not the usual choices  you may find in this type of revue but were some of the lesser performed but still well-known numbers. The programme was performed by a talented enthusiastic ensemble cast which included singers and dancers, who most of the time were all dressed in basic black, adding various accessories when required with the occasional change of costume for some of the cast to add to the performance. I would like to name everyone but I would not like to miss anyone out, however there was some very good individual and ensemble performances and it was nice to see so many people being given a chance to shine. Choreography from Samantha Moores, Nicola Lyons, Claire Jones and Michelle Williams was appropriate for this type of production and was performed by the cast of singers and dancers, well also adding to the entertainment value of the show. The band led by Musical Director Wayne Oakes played and accompanied the cast with their usual expertise giving that extra something that only live music can give.

The  basic set meant  there was seamless movement from one song to another enabling a smooth slick paced show which along with good technical input added to the ambience and enjoyment of the production.

Congratulations to Director Samantha Moores, Producer Michelle Williams and to all involved in this very entertaining production, which the audience appeared to enjoy very much. Thank you for inviting us we had a lovely evening as always.
