The Watson Players have always been able to cast their pantos with very good performers and from top to bottom this was no exception.  This was an exceptionally well written and funny script by long standing member Jenni Padley, and Gill Swift and Sally Tickner-Mellor pulled out every ounce of humour from the piece.

Petra, the Pink Pixie was exquisitely played by Angela Swift, and Catherine Baker proved a good foil as the saucepan wielding Griswald.  I liked Wayne Perry as Delilah Doddle, a top drawer Dame, his repartee with the audience was excellent, and what a Welsh accent!

The zany antics of Dolly and Polly played by Jessica  Baird and Yvonne Baird respectively, had everyone in stitches, a class act.  The love interest was nicely portrayed by Evie Barfield as Rapunzel, and Josh Robinson as Prince Tarquin.  Other parts played by this talented line-up were Ryan Barber as Seth the Stable Lad, along with Ellie Mallinson as Maisie the  Royal Maid, and Angela Barradell as the suitably Wicked Witch Gothel.

Adding to the performance, the chorus sang and danced enthusiastically, and there were some most effective dance scenes.

Excellently costumed, with a well-constructed set, and complimented by good lighting and sound, together with the most competent panto pit band, this was a most enjoyable evening.
