Monifieth Amateur Dramatics’ production of Puss in Boots by Leonard Caddy offered a hilarious evening filled with charm, laughter, and the kind of infectious energy that makes pantomime such a treasured tradition. The society brought a blend of familiar faces and emerging young talent to the stage, creating a show that felt both fresh and rooted in community spirit.

Darcie Steel gave a confident performance as Ralph, the poor miller’s boy, whose journey from rags to riches anchored the story. Holly Cattrell’s Princess Coral was a regal yet spirited presence, while Mat Hodson’s larger-than-life Hernione provided plenty of comedic chaos and audience torment. Ivy Sutherland shone as the enigmatic Puss, delivering the quick wit and sly charm that the role demands.

Logan Kelly as Trip and Isaac Devereux as King Oliphant provided strong support, with Devereux’s king bringing just the right mix of authority and eccentricity. Izzy Laing’s Maisey added warmth, while Orson Hayward delivered an enthusiastic and memorable performance as Chancellor Dulbody. Sam Cattanach and Terra Sareika made for an entertaining villainous duo as Sprat and the Ogre Hardcast.

Steven Armstrong’s bright and very pink Fairy brought a touch of whimsy and plenty of laughs, while Daniel Beddows and Kiarra Femnore brought life to the Flumgums. Geode Partridge (a noisy Herald), Poppy Leslie (a lively Town Crier), and Marlie Denny (a spirited Soldier) and the four chorus members rounded out the cast, each adding their own touches of humor and energy.

The set, while basic, allowed the performances to take centre stage. The musical numbers were joyful capturing the upbeat and slightly madcap essence of the show. The audience was treated to an utterly madcap evening filled with slapstick humor, clever wordplay, and plenty of audience interaction - even the line drops created a unique onstage banter- the hallmarks of a good pantomime!

Monifieth Amateur Dramatics should be proud of their efforts. The result of the direction by Claire Streets assisted by River Streets was a production full of heart, humor, and the unmistakable magic of community theatre. An utterly mad and utterly enjoyable evening for all!

Thank you for the invite and well done everyone at M.A.D
