Puss in Boots

 

 

Congratulations must go to this Company, for again, taking their Annual Pantomime “ on tour” entertaining a variety of audiences.

Paula Curtis had written, directed and produced this show and her work ethic is to be admired. She had gathered together an enthusiastic team and this afternoon’s audience loved the performance. The story of “ Puss in Boots ” is not so well known amongst the younger audiences but this version certainly captured and kept their attention throughout. Claire Louise as “Puss” gave an outstanding, physical performance as the lovable cat. Her Dance Training was obvious to all. She commanded the stage at all times and had a great rapport with Jack played by the confident and experienced Geraldine Brown. Martin Green was very lively in his portrayal of Sam and was excellent in his interaction with the Audience. It is encouraging to see a wide age-range of actors taking part and there is a feeling of great Community Spirit as many youngsters in the audience were emulating the routines on stage. The experienced Alison Thornton as “Venom the Witch” was suitably evil and portrayed the villainess with great confidence. Alison appeared to be thoroughly enjoying her role and there was a great response from the audience at her every appearance. Paula Curtis assisted by Alison Thornton Choreographed and provided some simple but very effective routines.

I was very impressed with Phil Downie with his very responsible job as Sound Technician. He provided most of the music and sound effects and great concentration was needed at all times. Costumes were just what were required and the Wardrobe Department are to be congratulated on their attention to detail. Companies such as these are the backbone of this wonderful hobby of ours especially with the limited finance and venues at their disposal and I have nothing but praise for all involved.
