I came away from this production with a real 'feel good' feeling. The LIDOS pantomime gets better every year and although Puss in Boots is not my favourite story they certainly made the most of it. The opening number set the standard for the show with happy faces, colourful costumes and lovely singing and dancing. There was a good pace throughout and always something happening. The slapstick scene in the kitchen was well thought out and Bryan Craven as the palace cook and Matthew Tempest as his son were a good team. There was a strong cast of principals and they sang beautifully, a joy to listen to. Scene changes were quick and the balloon flight film was a brilliant idea. The UV scene was a delight and I loved the dance with the black and white costumes. All these novelty additions made for an interesting show and held the audiences attention throughout. A special word must go to the costumes which were beautiful and everyone on stage was so well turned out. A delightful show and just the right length of time for a children's show.
