Three Spires and Guildhall have joined forces to present to us Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert tells us the story of two drag queens and one transgender woman that travel across Australia from Sydney to Alice Springs aboard their lavender bus named Priscilla to perform a drag show.

The principle cast consists of Craig Garner who played Tik/ Mitzi and he was just absolutely fabulous! Craig’s talent as a choreographer shone through and it was an all-round excellent performance.

Steve Smith as Bernadette is a seasoned actor who took to the stage to play the potentially challenging role of a transgender woman, he had a great vocal range and played the part with the upmost respect and dignity that it deserved.

Doug Gilbey-Smith who played Adam/Felicia was an excellent portrayal of the character. His characterisation was only enhanced by his vocal talent alongside his talent for movement. He was an absolute treasure to watch on the stage.

The Three Divas were played by Kayleigh Brook, Kelsey Checklin and Claire Tyler and they made a stunning entrance as they were lowered down from the heavens and although it may have been uncomfortable to remain suspended in the air, they didn’t show it and nothing affected their stunning vocal ability.

The smaller principle roles were performed to a high standard and they were each unique in their own way.
The chorus numbers were fantastically done, whether it was a small number or a big one they were all equally amazing.

The costumes just added even more pizazz to the show and they suited perfectly to each of the individual characters.

There were a couple of problems with the sound but the cast didn’t let it affect their performances and the show most certainly went on!

The scene changes were done with an incredibly amount of fluidity, especially considering some of the more complex ones, it looked effortless.

Congratulations to the cast, crew and creative team for putting on such an excellent show!
