The musical based on the 1994 film, debut in 2006 in Sydney and later transferred to the West End. It features over 20 dancfloor classics.
Tye Harris was Tick/Mitzi and bought out some nice touches to the role but I would have liked to have seen a better balance between the bravado and fragility in his character. Zac Hollinshead was the flamboyant Adam/Flecica a character you could see he relished playing. John Wetherhall played the complex part of Bernadette with his usual panache and flair. Bernadette simply wants to be loved and whilst on route to Alice Springs finds love with mechanic Bob played by Simon Pugh, who scenes with John worked very well. There was some strong singing from the three Divas, Niamh Allen, Sarah Moors and Tasheka Coe, Full praise must be given to all the minor principal roles and the chorus and dancers for making this such an enjoyable show.
Congratulations to Ben and Claire on the production and to Adam for the good sound from the orchestra.
