Arriving on a very cold winter's evening I was given a very warm welcome, as always, by the front of house crew. I was shown to my seat and settled down looking forward to a great evening's entertainment. Power of Love is a self penned Juke Box Musical and follows the story of growing up in the 1980s and the associated problems that occurred. This covered  a fantastic and nostalgic "eightiesfest" and a great evening was in store. The band, an excellent four piece of experienced musicians, and singers struck up at a good pace and we were all transported back with the soundtrack of our lives. From Club Tropicana, Love Shack and A Town Called Malice to Special Brew and The Power of Love. The audience loved it

The set was good: I loved both of the TV screens with the videos of all the programmes that were being shown from that era, they added a real touch. The staging flats rotated from the

living areas to the bedroom (for hairbrush singing of course) and along with the addition of props to enhance was cleverly put together and the changes were taken on by the cast with the band playing in the background, so little or no downtime. Costumes, varied and colourful, depicted very well the decade this was aimed at and (dare I say) I recognised one or two of them myself (I wondered where they had gone!)

The cast was well led by Liz Holt as Gladys, Ellie Tripp as Emily and Oscar Trehane as Adam, and were equally well backed up by the entire cast, too many to mention. Good choreography by Shae Carroll for the ensemble routines made us all smile, but the smiles were coming to us from the cast, who were obviously having a great time.

An evening to warm the nostalgic cockles of your heart, well done and good luck for the rest of the week.
