Choreographer: Celine Beveridge
This was truly a feast of entertainment that these young people have given their audiences. A real trip down memory lane started with foot tapping Rock Around The Clock and other songs from the 50’s, through Da Do Ron Ron in the 60’s, Dancing Queen in the 70’s to Stronger in the 00’s and completed with Bohemian Rhapsody. Magic and hard work shone through these young performers’ singing and dancing. Soloists voices were well matched to their songs with memorable performances from Emma in My Boy Lollipop and My Heart Will Go On, Celine in One Fine Day, Carla in Time After Time, Coleen in Think Twice and Claire showing her talent in Songbird. The boys held their own in an enjoyable Uptown Girl and Owen and Findlay and Ben had lots of fun in their drag act and Thriller. The groupings with Kirsten, Lucy et al led and harmonised well in numbers like Stop in the Name of Love and Year 3000. The choreographer showed real promise at fourteen years of age in taking her young charges through all the different styles and tempos and excelling in the movements of her own times. With quick changes, colourful and era-appropriate costumes, sound that complemented young voices and songs we all knew, the evening flew past. Congratulations all round for a magical evening.
