How nice it was to go back to the stage tonight to see a live performance at long last.
Kentish Opera's Pirates of Penzance, although semi-staged, we were treated to a great evening of Gilbert and Sullivan’s popular operetta, Pirates of Penzance. Conductor Robyn Sevastos' orchestra of 15 musicians gave us a big on-stage sound. Costumes, as always by Carole Stevenson, were colourful, and the chorus of the company were superb. Soloists, Simom Butteriss, Ian Belsey, Peter Colman Gareth Edwards, Rosie Ashe, and Peter Grevatt were all chosen well and gave splendid tip top performances. Stephen Anthony Brown directed this ‘Pirates of Penzance' with perfect placement of his soloists, we could hear every word both in song and acting, this made this Pirates of Penzance very slick.
Welcome back Kentish Opera - looking forward to your next fully staged Opera. Well done to you all. Thank you for inviting me.
