The musical is based on J.M Barrie's 1904 play about the boy who refuses to grow up.
It must be stressed that this is a musical, not a pantomime and should be treated so. Congratulaions must go to the choreographer and producer for getting the most out of this youthful company.
Luey Pearce played the title, he was full of confidence and charm. Wendy Darling was well played by Niamh Slater. As Mrs Darling Heather Mills sang her songs and played her part well. The only criticism was her flowing hair, ladies of the period going out with their husband to dinner would have worn their hair up. Captain Hook was in very good hands of baddy Karl Wunderlich. The lost boys were all great and some very good singing from them all. Jack Humphreys gave a good charaterisation of Mr. Smee. All the minor roles were well cast.
The big downfall of this production was the sound and the lighting we felt very sorry for the storyteller in the the opening scene no amplification at all the. Later in the show the intermittent sound when on showed off her voice and why she got the role. It very sad when after months of rehearsal a good show can be let down by the technical team.
