This very enthusiastic society never fails to impress.  Although this was the opening night, it was very enjoyable, and by the time the run finishes on Saturday the cast, with quite a few new faces, will have gained confidence.

The show got off to a good start with the Darling Family.  Carol Keen (Mrs Darling) in her usual confident style was a good help to her family, all new to the stage.  Jessica May was very impressive as Nana, the family dog, in an excellent dog costume.

Although her singing was rather quiet, Evie Gunnell played the part of Wendy very well indeed, particularly in Neverland, where she was a perfect mother to the other children.  Her brothers John and Michael were well played by Ezra Laundy-Blair and Connor Evans.  Damian Wynne played Father and Captain Hook.  Although for three first time there were no boos or hisses, he was very evil in the latter role.  The star of the evening was Zoe Mather as she oozed confidence in the title role of Peter Pa, and helped the others.  In Neverland the Lost Children, played by Jonathan Hopkins, Beth Wright, Jessica May, Peter Oliver, Grace Gent and Catherine Frank were really enthusiastic.  There was a very lively scene in the Indian Camp with Peter Power as the Chief and a colourful group on Indians and Squaws dancing round the totem pole.  These Indians were also Pirates under Captain Hook when they really rough, and terrified the children.  Jeff Surma played Smee, Hook’s right hand man, and the other Pirates were Martin McLean, Jo Potter, Leanne Carlson, Mirelle Edgeworth, Melanie McNiff, Geraldine Bell, Charlie Humphrey, Martha Laundy-Blair and Sam Beamish Young.

These scenes were really well done.  The scenery was adequate, lighting very good, and all in all Brian Coady could be very pleased with the show. Well done, STARS, for another successful production.
