This was a panto version of this famous story sticking very closely to the original storyline. The Opening was a bit “gory” showing how Captain Hook, fighting Peter Pan, lost his hand, which was then fed to the Crocodile! Next, Dame Tiger Lily, played with passion by Alan Hunter telling the corniest of corny gags, introduced herself and off we went on the well known tale. Peter Pan (an assured and very confident performance this by Keiran Bole) flew into the Darling nursery, usually guarded by Nana the Dog (Fiona Barton), and soon, Wendy (Niamh Shiel), top-hatted John (Spencer Mason), and Michael (Adam Le Grice), all found themselves flying off to Neverland. And “fly” they did over the rooftops of London Town! Then their adventure began – with Red Indians, Fairies, Mermaids, and Lost Boys. Captain Hook, was a nasty piece of work by Cliff Cuthbertson, who was aided and abetted by pirates - Steven Armstrong’s loveable Smee, and his side-kick, Starkey (Isaac Devereaux). Tinkerbell, usually portrayed by a dancing light, turned into human form played by a shapely Shelagh Phillips. There was lots of panto participation for the kids to scream out loud and their favourite was the Crocodile (David Goodfellow)! Completing the energetic cast was Wilma Low (Myrtle the Mermaid) and Nicky and Derek Stewart (the Darlings).
