It was really pleasing to once again travel to Hawes to see one of their pantomimes, as they did not manage to produce one last year. This year the whole town seems to have been involved. The schools have helped because the cast was mainly made up of school children. How well they performed, with excellent singing and good acting. It was an excellent production, with a good lighting plot and really excellent home-produced sets. Very well done Richard Waring and Charlotte Reilly. The pirate ship was absolutely fabulous, and was really professionally painted.
There were many excellent performances. Twelve-year-old Kory Spink, as Peter Pan, was outstanding. He has a good singing voice, and will be a star for a few years to come. There were two newcomers to the society in Julia Di Duca and Graham Di Duca, who played Captain Hook and Laughing Water. They were excellent, and will also be a great asset to the society. Smee, one of the Pirate crew, was on the stage nearly all the time and was very well played by Colin Tindill, who has been with the Society along time, and kept the comedy going throughout. Mrs Darling was well played by Jennifer Fawcett, and the children were played by Emma Cloughton, as Wendy, Kian Teasdale played John, and Harvey Boddy played Young Michael, with Abby Alderson playing the dog, Nana. They were very good and matched up well with Peter Pan. Tinkerbell was well played by Alana Teasdale who is a lovely little dancer and a delight to watch Tiger Lily, Laughing Water’s chief Indian, was very well played indeed by Shannon McIntyre. There were many children who took the parts of the Lost Boys, Red Indian Squaws, Red Indian Children and the Pirate crew. too many to mention individually, though they really deserve to be. There were 18 children in the show, all singing their hearts out. There was excellent sound, with radio mikes. Tthe lighting was very professionally done. I was sitting at the back of the hall, and heard and saw everything. Colin Bailey and his wonderful team must feel really proud of the results of their hard work. Hawes people have got behind the team because they have played to full houses. Well done Hawes. See you next year.
