This was a very good production of a most creative musical which was new to me, and I enjoyed the show immensely. Well directed by Zak on his initial venture into directing, with a young, enthusiastic cast giving their all for which they all deserve credit.
The set was excellent in its presentation and the flying sequences were very effectively executed and set the scene for the production.
Super performances from the cast were in abundance, Charlotte Rowland as the Storyteller linked the scenes together in a clear and concise manner. Harvey Tavener as Peter Pan was first rate, good in acting and with clear confident vocals, one for the future. Brooke Marsden as Tinkerbell linked well with Harvey, dancing and miming her part beautifully. Molly Parkinson as Mrs Darling again brought quality to the show, vocally excellent , making the most of her role. The Darling children, Ryan Yates as John, Drew Boswell as Michael, were both very confident in their performance, with Caitlin Oldham as Wendy delivering an impressive and assured portrayal. I loved Jake Truman`s droll, laid back performance as the evil Captain Hook, a natural comedian. He was equally well supported by Ellen Oldershaw as his sidekick Smee, matching Jake in her comedic role. The principal lineup was completed by Ricky Hill, most supportive as Mr Darling.
With good lighting, sound, and costumes and a very sympathetic band this show had it all, and continues to show that youth theatre is thriving in the East Midlands. Thank you, and well done Young Performers.
