PMS had clearly put a lot of time and energy into this compilation show which featured over 40 show tunes spanning over half a century of Broadway hits. With a mixture of ensemble numbers, duets, and solos, there was something for everyone in Pathway to Broadway. All levels of chorus were utilised in the show. The Junior Chorus giving a very sweet rendition of The Ugly Bug Ball; the Intermediate Chorus chose some lively numbers including You Can’t Stop the Beat and Sandra Dee from Grease, and the Adult Chorus showing their diversity tackling numbers such as Lullaby of Broadway, the Ascot Gavotte, Flash Bang Wallop and Brigadoon. The Dancers added a further dimension, being well choreographed and costumed at all times. Interspersed with some pleasant solos from Carl Lindsey, Maureen Symonds, Simon Wrench and Linda Tester, the whole evening moved along with a great deal of charm. Whilst at times, the band did overpower some of the singing, and with first night few technical hitches on the sound board, there were some distractions. Although I am sure these issues will have been ironed out for the other two performances. Yet despite these few snags, this was a very agreeable evenings’ entertainment – well done to all involved.
