Written by Chris Taylor and developed in workshops, the Young Section presented a lively tale about Santa being kidnapped, how the elves try to find him and how they try to find who is responsible. The youngsters ranged from very young to early teens in roles from Santa’s little helpers with fabulous Christmassy names like Nutmeg and Cinnamon to older characters of Grumpy Santa, Cheery Santa and Smartie. The young cast presented their roles with great seriousness and commitment. The main characters delivered their lines carefully and grew stronger as success on their lines and audience laughter took hold. The strength of character was there in the likes of Ginger and Christine McFlurry. All knew their positions and impressed with their well rehearsed movements and song. The scenery back drop was minimal but set the scenes while the costumes were all in keeping with the Christmas season. This was a whole youth effort with a youth team of Rose Taylor directing, Ellie Powell choreographing, Neil Schofield dealing with tech and Bobbi McIntyre in her role as Team Leader - all showing what they can achieve. Everyone’s enthusiasm was clear to see and the whole show gave delight to family and friends setting the Christmas mood.
