A very funny play, when fanatical cricket captain Roger having difficulty getting a team out for a crucial match. Secretly Bob is helping out ex wife and current wife Ginnie, decides to come to the match. Salesman Dennis is having trouble with house hunting wife Shirley. In desperation she sets his prize car on fire. Kev is fighting off DIY wife Maggie’s advances, and cad Alex arrives with his new piece of totty Sharon, who has hysterics locking herself in the ladies! Even the perfect pair Roger and over organised wife and tea lady Mim have a problem over something that happened in Dorking last season and to cap it all it rains! With production, lighting and sound in Jacqueline’s control she achieved some good movement with all the comings and goings played mainly at pace, but at times being helped along the way by Elisabeth Doust on the book. A realistic cricket pavilion with veranda set was well thought out, decorated and the large number of cricketing props suitably collected and used. I particularly enjoyed Maureen Payne’s deadpan expression and her interaction with hubby Kevin played by Graham Payne, with his poorly finger. A good rapport was built between tea maker Miriam (Lyn Ford) and Roger (Toby Cook) with good all round support given by other members of the cast and members behind the scene.
